Knot it!

Heyy guys!
I thought I'd share with you three of my favourite hairstyles when bantu-knotting. They're nothing too extravagant, very basic. The first is with a headscarf which you saw in my last post. I think this is my favourite way to wear a Bantu knot hairstyle. It's very girly and hassle-free. In an attempt not to look like a little girl I also style my hair by rocking a twisted pin back, which i have to admit did not photograph well lol, but its a nice elegant style I can wear out to dinner or elsewhere when I don't want to wear my hair down. For the times I do wish to wear my hair down, i usually just pin back my 'fringe' as shown with a bobby pin and  I can get on with my day. For lazy days, like today, I just gather my hair up into a big pineapple bun. Check out my favourite bun styles here.

So, what are your go-to hairstyles? Feel free to share them in the comments below! :)
Take Care.

The Bantu Knot!

Heyy guys! :)
So this week I decided to try out my first bantu knot. I've been really lazy when it comes to protective styles, but I thought it was time I switched it up a little.

So I sectioned my hair into 8 parts; 4 equal-ish sections at the back and 4 smaller sections at the front (back of my ear to the hairline).
The bantu knot is achieved by twisting a section of hair (I twist to the left) and then wrapping the hair in a spiral as pictured. I did my bantu knots on air dried hair after moisturising and sealing. I slept with mine overnight and took them out in the morning.

Now, its not perfect but I am very happy with how they came out for a first attempt. I decided to add a cute little head scarf, which is actually a belt from a pair of trousers lol. I don't usually wear head scarfs as I feel they don't suit me, but I think it goes well with the curly/wavy hair.
I think this is now my favourite protective style, after bunning, as its so easy to do and the curls/waves are very versatile. When combing out my hair, the curls held and the wave pattern was not disturbed. So all in all its a big thumbs up from me!

Anyway hope you're all well! I've joined the instagram gang so feel free to follow me @rebecczzz. Btw i have no followers, nor am i following anyone lol so send your instagrams my way! :)

Hair Love of the Week!

Heyy guys!
This weeks Hair Love of the Week is a little different in the sense that it is not a celebrity, and so instead of posting a picture i thought i'd share with you this weeks Hair Lovage through a video tutorial from youtube. I've been subscribed to LuxyHair for a while now as they provide such quality hair tutorials. I really do recommend giving their channel a look in!

The Upside Down French Braided Top Bun is becoming so popular, with pictures floating in and around the likes of tumblr and instagram. The good thing is that you don't necessarily need long hair to recreate this look.

I shall be trying it out soon, and will let you know how it goes :)

Hope you enjoy the vid!

Homemade Hot Oil treatment #1

Pure Honey, Coconut Oil (Solid) and Resealable food bags
Heyy guys!
So, i've been on a hair journey for months now and i was still yet to try a hot oil treatment. I've had one treatment done at the salon and that was about it. I think it was mostly because i didn't have the time/ didn't know where to fit it in. Nevertheless, i have all the time in the world now, and so this was top of my list haircare- wise.

This is a simple hot oil treatment mix which, if you are interested in trying, can be made in your own home with two simple ingredients: Coconut Oil and Honey.

I added 4 tbs of Coconut Oil with 2 tbs of Natural Honey into a small plastic bag and placed this bag into a bowl of hot water. I left it for approx 1 minute to warm and then let it cool outside of the bowl so that the hot oil would not burn my scalp. I then proceeded to apply the mixture to damp hair (I had just co-washed). I covered my hair with my plastic cap for 20mins and then rinsed it out.

I'm not too sure how I feel about this hot oil treatment. Applying the mixture to my hair felt... weird. The honey definitely overpowered the coconut oil and so it was a very sticky mixture. However after i did rinse it out my hair felt much better. I probably will try this again but I may try leaving it in longer for better absorption.

If you have any suggestions for me please let me know, it would be much appreciated! :)

Hair Love of the Week!

This weeks Hair Love of the Week is Tika Sumpter.
Tika is best known for her role as Raina Thorpe in Gossip Girl and also as the love interest in Jason Derulo's- It Girl video.

I've recently started to really like ombre hair. I know it was a big trend last summer and i'm hoping it sticks around this summer too. I had been searching the web for tutorials and pictures for inspiration (as im hoping to dye my clip-ins for summer) and i came across this picture of Tika Sumpter.

Here Tika has gone for the brown ombre effect which i think is my favourite. It's a subtle transition from black to brown as opposed to other ombre styles. I think this style really suits her.

Tika's hair has been an enigma for me for quite some time now. I was certain that she wore weaves until a friend told me this was her real hair. Let me know what you guys think.

Regardless, i think her hair is always on point! :)

Clip-ins update! :)

Heyy guys!
Thought i'd give a little update on my clip-ins. To see how i made them click here.

In that post i had just made 2 tracks. I suddenly got so busy  that i was unable to finish them.
Anyway, i finally got the time to make a full set, and this is how they shaped up.

I ended up making a total of 6 tracks; one for just above the nape area, one from ear to ear, another track above that and 3 tracks for the sides.
I used two sets of tracks on my left side and just one set for the right side. This is because i tended to have my weave leave out on the left side and so my hair on that side is not as thick and long as the rest of my hair.

I'm happy with them overall. I think they blend quite nicely with my hair. What do you guys think? (Don't be too harsh lol).

I finally got to wear them out last week at the Summer Ball at my uni, and i'm happy to report there were no problems! No embarrassing fall outs or peeping tracks. They are soo secure so don't let that put you off if you are considering clip-ins.

Let me know if you guys would like to see a video on how i made them :)
